School, Sports & Camp Physicals

Each year more than 38 million children and teenagers participate in organized sports at school or in the community. To avoid being injured on the field, court, or track, it’s important that your young athlete see a physician for a physical exam before they suit up. In many cases, it is required.

CHECKIN

The objectives of a pre-participation exam (PPE) are to assess the athlete’s present fitness level, evaluate any existing injuries, and detect conditions that may predispose them to new injury.

During the PPE, height, weight, blood pressure and heart rate will be measured.  Then after collecting a thorough medical history, the physician will evaluate heart, lungs, abdomen, nose, ears, throat, posture, strength, and flexibility.

If you have a young athlete in need of a pre-participation exam, you can walk-in to AFC Doctors Express Waltham any day from 8am-8pm and be seen by a board-certified ER physician, no appointment is needed. We are conveniently located at 1030 Main Street in the new Main Street Marketplace, next to Party City.

At AFC Doctors Express Waltham, we also treat everything from chest colds and sore throats, to sprains and fractures, and cuts and abrasions. We are equipped with state-of-the-art lab and x-ray on-site and accept most major insurances.
